Hi there!
Thank you for the kind words on my last post. I mostly receive replies via email, which allows for deeper interactions—so thank you for writing back and letting me know you're reading and how it resonated with you. And, welcome to all the new people here!
This is our mid-month post, which is mainly a compilation of things I’m into: what I’m listening to, thinking about, making, reflecting on, or laughing about. At the end, there’s a meditation recording. I hope you're taking care of yourself in this crazy world we live in!

I’ll be hosting our monthly free gathering next Friday, October 25 at 9am/pst, on Zoom, we’ll explore and practice on this weird concept of “liking ourselves”. If you’d like to join, here’s the link.

One Poem
One Practice
“One of the most important things you can practice in this life, it to observe every interaction and decide whether the information is asking you to look closely at yourself and own something or to look closely at yourself and acknowledge it’s not about you” - Vienna Pharaon
One Writer
I’m immersed in the work of French writer Édouard Louis. He recently visited one of the most important literary events in Brazil and I was feeling FOMO. Here’s an interview. Some book recommendations from him : Change and Who killed my father?
One Smell
One Breathing Practice
This is exercise is called box breathing that is always good to remember for when we are feeling anxious:
Relax your face, your jaw, eyelids and shoulders
Take a slow, deep inhale through your nose for a count of 4
Hold for a count of 4
Exhale through the nose for a count of 4
Hold for a count of 4
Repeat this for a few cycles
One “Ughhh, People!”
One Thing I constantly Think About
“There is always what will turn out to be the life we led, and the life that accompanied it, the parallel life (or lives) that never actually happened, that we live in our minds, the wished-for life (or lives): the risks untaken and the opportunities avoided and unprovided. We refer to them as our unlived lives because somewhere we believe that they were open to us, but for some reason - and we might spend a great deal of our lived lives trying to find and give the reason - they were not possible. And was not possible all too easily becomes the story of our lives. But the exemptions we suffer, whether forced or chosen, makes us who we are.” - Adam Philips
One Reflection
“Loss isn’t just a one-time event; it’s something we experience repeatedly as we remember those we’ve lost.” - from Hanif Abdurraqib who is a brilliant writer
One Preciousness
This episode of Modern Love was very heart warming. Here’s a clip of it when he got really touched telling the story.
One “Just Checking”
It does, right?
One Question
What is one thing you really like about yourself?
With Love,
Mariana
MEDITATION RECORDING
This practice is exploring our relationship with control. I wrote more about it a few issues ago.
Find yourself in a quiet place.
Sit in a position that feels most comfortable. You can use a couch, bed, chair, or sit on the ground. Find a posture that helps you stay awake yet relaxed.
You can either close your eyes fully or keep your gaze softly focused on a spot near you on the ground.
Take your time transitioning back to your tasks.
This recording is from the free monthly gathering so there may be occasional glitches.
