Welcome,
The Film Director Agnès Varda once said:
If we opened people up, we’d find landscapes
My writing is interested in doing just that: finding and exploring our inner lives. I use the lens of the intersection between contemplative practices such as mindfulness and compassion from Buddhist Psychology, Psychotherapy, and Arts to reflect on our human experience.
My writing centers on expanding these topics to further elaborate and process some of the challenges, inquiries, blocks, and pursuits that arise for all of us. This space is dedicated to exploring our multiplicity, ambivalence, worries, anxieties, fears, anger, and desires while using these reflections to help us start to put language to what often seems unspeakable. It creates a space for who we are, allowing us to sit longer with our inquiries and to join life in its complexity, mystery, messiness, and beauty.
My hope is that you will find this offering nourishing, insightful, and supportive, and that it gives you some perspective, guidance, and tools for the challenges, struggles, or transitions you might be experiencing. Ultimately is an invitation to meet yourself right where you are in a more compassionate, curious, and spacious way.
Here, you will find:
Essays and reflections on our inner lives, using the lens of mindfulness and compassion practices and their intersection with psychotherapy.

About Me

Hi, I’m Mari (short for Mariana)
I’m a Contemplative Educator and Writer. I’m currently studying for a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute and I’m trained in Contemplative Psychotherapy. I’ve been teaching and supporting individuals, groups and organizations for the past eight years providing practices and tools to deepen their understanding around their emotions, ambiguities and internal patterns as we all navigate the complexity of their lives. I was born and raised in Brazil from a Hungarian Family. In my early 20’s I moved to Mexico City and years later, I got my Masters in Arts in Barcelona where I also spent some years living, studying and working. For the past 12 years, I have called Los Angeles my home. My multicultural lens and immigrant experience also informs my writing, my work and the way I look at the world. Subscriptions:
I've been writing this newsletter for six years now, and I enjoy every part of it! Especially because it allows me to expand on topics that can't be rushed or put in an Instagram square, enabling more meaningful interactions.
I've made the decision to make this a free space. There is no paywall: Everyone gets all the posts.
If you are financially able, please consider becoming a paid subscriber to offer monetary support for my work. I put a lot of hours and care into it. Alternatively, you can restack my posts, share my work on social media, or tell a friend about my newsletter (that’s very supportive too!).
If you are interested in my offerings, you can check out my website.
As an additional way of supporting, if you have the means, you can also fund additional subscriptions or gift a subscription to someone in your life. Visit here for more information.
Thank you for being here, reading, writing back to me, and sharing. It really means so much to me!
